April 3: The Silence of God

They took the body of Jesus
and bound it with burial cloths along with the spices,
according to the Jewish burial custom.
Now in the place where he had been crucified there was a garden,
and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been buried.
So they laid Jesus there because of the Jewish preparation day;
for the tomb was close by.

MISS A MEAL TODAY. Take a few minutes in silence to reflect on the first Holy Saturday, the day after Jesus died. Imagine what it must've been like for the Apostles, who had just lost their closest friend. Imagine the questions, doubts, and fears that must've gone through their heads and hearts on that day. Ask God to prepare your heart for His resurrection. Thank Him for dying to rescue us from death

April 2: It is Finished

After this, aware that everything was now finished,
in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled,
Jesus said, “I thirst.”
There was a vessel filled with common wine.
So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop
and put it up to his mouth.
When Jesus had taken the wine, he said,
“It is finished.”
And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.

Take 10 minutes to read over this Scripture passage and reflect on it. Ask Jesus to give you a glimpse of what He was going through just before He died. Imagine the scene in your mind. Thank Him for loving us all the way till the end. Thank Him for not giving up on us.

April 1: Washing Feet

So, during supper,

fully aware that the Father had put everything into his power

and that he had come from God and was returning to God,

he rose from supper and took off his outer garments.

He took a towel and tied it around his waist.

Then he poured water into a basin

and began to wash the disciples’ feet

and dry them with the towel around his waist.

Today, do a chore at home that you really don't want to do. Even if it's someone else's chore, choose to do it anyway. Tell God that you're thankful that He chose to humble Himself so much that He would wash His disciples' feet. Take a few minutes to think of the different ways that Jesus humbled Himself while on earth, and thank Him for each example you can think of

March 31: DAY OF SILENCE

The Lord GOD is my help,
therefore I am not disgraced;
I have set my face like flint,
knowing that I shall not be put to shame.
He is near who upholds my right;
if anyone wishes to oppose me,
let us appear together.
Who disputes my right?
Let him confront me.
See, the Lord GOD is my help;
who will prove me wrong?

BE QUIET TODAY. As much as possible, spend time in silence. Talk as little as you can, and when you have opportunities to listen to music or watch TV, choose to do something silently instead. Ask God for His help to live in the silence today. It is not an easy thing to do, and the silence can often be awkward and even scary. Take a minute to think of how Jesus remained silent while others mocked Him, cursed Him, and spoke lies about Him. Thank Jesus for continuing to love us in the midst of our indifference

March 30: I will never deny You

Simon Peter said to him, “Master, where are you going?”
Jesus answered him,
“Where I am going, you cannot follow me now,
though you will follow later.”
Peter said to him,
“Master, why can I not follow you now?
I will lay down my life for you.”
Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me?
Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow
before you deny me three times.”

Take a minute or two to think of a time when you denied Christ. Think of a time when you didn't stand up for your faith, or maybe when you joined others in mocking the faith. Tell God that you're sorry for this, and ask for His forgiveness. Ask God for the grace that He gave St. Peter to live for Christ even after he denied Jesus 3 times.

March 29: Love the Lonely

I, the LORD, have called you for the victory of justice,
I have grasped you by the hand;
I formed you, and set you
as a covenant of the people,
a light for the nations,
To open the eyes of the blind,
to bring out prisoners from confinement,
and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.

Love someone who seems lonely today. Maybe it means sitting with them, smiling at them, or just saying "hello" and asking them how they're doing today. It may be someone at school, it may be an older person that you see in your neighborhood, it may even be someone in your family. Ask God for the courage to step out and let this person know that you care about them. Ask God to bless this person today, and ask Him to let them know how much He loves them

March 27: Help-A-Child

I will make with them a covenant of peace;
it shall be an everlasting covenant with them,
and I will multiply them, and put my sanctuary among them forever.
My dwelling shall be with them;
I will be their God, and they shall be my people

Find an opportunity today to help someone who is younger than you. Ask God to provide an opportunity to help someone, and take a few minutes to thank Him for lowering Himself to help us.
